The Great Sippy-cup Experiment

Doctors are all crazy about getting babies onto sippy cups these days, and recommend starting at 4 months. Mommy bought me this today at the grocery store, and thought it would be fun entertainment for her and Daddy, as well as our friends Aimee and Gary who came over for a BBQ. Aimee held me and helped me figure out how to use it for the first time. I got a little bit of water, and wasn't sure what to think of it, and I was absolutely soaked after 10 minutes. Thanks for your help, Aimee!

Uh oh!

Mommy ran to the kitchen to get my bottle ready, and returned to find me like this... I somehow made my playmat fall over and fold over me. I wasn't too upset about it, though.

Summer's here!

Since we're having a bit of a heat wave, Mommy's having fun pulling out all kinds of summer clothes that fit me now. I love the funny noise Sophie-the-giraffe makes when I rub her on my gums.

A new place to chillax with Daddy!

It's been weeks since Mommy and Daddy tried putting me in my Jolly Jumper, and I really haven't improved much. I just kind of dangle there and get myself turned around backwards. Cali always has a great time when I'm in it, though!

My New BFF

Mr. Elephant has been replaced! Cali and I love hanging out together these days. I smile when she walks by me, and even got the giggles over her tail wagging in my face in the car the other day. She comes and lays down beside me when I'm playing on the floor, and when Mommy comes up to get me when I wake up from a nap, Cali comes running in with her and howls at me in my crib. I'm also getting pretty good at grabbing her fur. Cali loves licking my face and I usually don't mind a few of her kisses. I then try and grab her face and suck on her nose, but she's too quick for me!

T-shirts

My 'Aunt' Janet (who likes to call herself my future-mother-in-law because she wants me to marry her son, Jeremy) brought me back this t-shirt from Malta! This t-shirt says it all!

By the way, I'm always trying to sit up on my own, but can only get my head and a bit of my shoulders off the ground. I always need to be on a soft surface so I don't bonk my head to0 hard when I give up and it drops to the ground.

I've been sucking on my hands and toes a lot lately, but Daddy caught me sucking my thumb for the first time when he had me out for a walk. He whipped out his cell phone and caught it on camera.

Nice to meet you!

I met my Uncle Alex and cousin James for the first time a couple of weeks ago! We hooked up at Yorkdale Mall, and Mommy tells me I'll really like that place when I'm a little older. Since I have such big feet, I think we'll have to make the trekk in from Guelph once in a while for shoes at Tall Girl!

It's time to shop, baby! Grammie is trying to de-grump an overtired cousin James by drawing pictures on his back. This is the best Mommy could do for a picture of us together; James wasn't in the mood to pose.

Grammie hung out with James so I could have a little one-on-one time with Uncle Alex.

Last Friday I met my Uncle Alex and cousin James for the first time! Mommy has to figure out how to get the pictures from her cell phone before we can post them.

I'm getting good at grabbing!

I grab everything I can these days, and have even tried to grab Cali's nose when she tries to lick me. Everything ends up on its way to my mouth, and sometimes I drop my toy half way there and suck on my hand until I decide to try again. I'm also getting pretty good at shoving my bottle away when I've had enough!

My new noise

Recently, I've learned how to squeal, and I practice my new sound a lot. Sometimes, I like to practice it for 1/2 an hour after someone feeds me in the middle of the night, and other times I wake up in the wee hours of the morning and coo and squeal for an hour or so... just for fun. Mommy and Daddy don't seem to have as much fun as I do, though.

I love books!

This one makes noise when I squish it, and I like to suck on the corners of the pages. When Mommy and Daddy are reading my my board books, I love to look at the pictures, make noises, and try to reach out and grab the pages.

Mommy tries to take me and my big sister, Cali, out for a walk every day. She had to work really hard to get Cali out of the water to sit here for this picture!

Change Table Time

I always do lots of full body stretches when I lay down on the change table. I also like to lift my bum, which Mommy and Daddy are calling 'beetle butt' these days, into the air, so I have to be careful I don't fall off!
