Another milestone

Mommy was in the living room with me, looking through some flyers for diapers on sale, while I hung out on my playmat. All of a sudden, Mommy heard me giggle and she looked over to find me on my tummy, when she set me down on my back!

I'm a big girl now!

I outgrew my infant carrier (in length, not weight), so that means Mommy and Daddy had to buy me a big girl carseat. I'm not big enough for it to be forward facing, but now I'm not carried around in the 'bucket' anymore.
This means that I'm sitting facing forward in my stroller! And it also means that I don't have my bucket to sit in shopping carts anymore, so Mommy and Daddy strap me in and wedge a blanket around me to make it more comfortable. I can't sit up by myself for very long, so I end up leaning sideways much of the time.

Exersaucer

You should have seen me when Mommy and Daddy first put me in my exersaucer! My eyes were bugging out and I kept going from one thing to another, not able to settle on one to play with.
These purple hanging disc things are my current favorite, though I do love it when someone pushes the music button. I could just play in here forever...

Well, make that about 15 minutes, which is just about my limit before starting to have a little meltdown.

Who needs toys...

...when you've got a fuzzy and tasseled blanket right beside you?!

Some random pictures

This picture was taken a couple of weeks ago at home, when I still wasn't very good at the 'jumper' part of my Jolly Jumper. But, that all changed last weekend at Omi and Opa's house! I was bouncing up a storm and thinking it was pretty funny! Mommy often finds me sideways like this in my crib when she gets me up from a nap.

I have lots of baby bath towels with little hoods to keep me warm. They're starting to get too small for me. Hint hint... :)

We broke out the high chair!

It took Mommy and Daddy a few days after I started on cereal to get the high chair out and set up, but it's finally here. I'm okay in it if I'm eating or if I have a toy, but if I'm just chillin' in it while Mommy does dishes or something, then I get pretty grouchy. I owe a huge thank you to Uncle Keith and Aunt Pauline for my chair, which will get lots of use over the next couple of years!

Cereal for the first time!

While I'm waiting for Mommy to get my cereal ready I entertain myself by sucking on a new boat Daddy bought me yesterday. We went for a walk after school and Daddy bought me three boats for the bathtub, and I really liked them!
I may look like I'm really keen for this stuff, but when Mommy first held it to my mouth I closed my mouth down on it and made big bubbles that sent cereal up my nose. Since it's really liquidy now when I'm just starting out, Mommy learned to tip the spoon down as she gets to my mouth.

Daddy's turn, because Grammie called and Mommy's talking to her on the phone (but still managing to take a bunch of pictures!). Mommy thinks I look like Yoda in this picture.
Here, let me help you, Daddy.

Hair accessories for a hairless head

Mommy found little hairclips that stay in even the finest of baby hair. She had a hard time restraining herself and only buying one!

The Sippy-cup Saga continues...

I'm getting pretty good at holding my cup with two hands, and am starting to tip it a bit to drink out of. It works best when I'm in my bouncy chair, as it's slanted back a bit. I don't like it when Mommy tries to help me, and eventually I find a way to get a sip. We have a little video of me in action, but it wouldn't upload because the file is too big. Sorry!

A typical day

Mommy dresses me up really cute... ...Daddy gets home and we walk to the library...

...then I strip down and get ready for a bath!

Oh yeah, and all the while I'm drooling like crazy!

Like mother, like daughter

Mommy grabbed her Grover (she got him from her godmother Alice when she was born, so he's 33 years old!) for me to have something to play with while we cuddled on her and Daddy's bed, and before she knew it I'd rolled over and hugged him. I guess this Grover obsession runs in the family.

Close-ups

Notice the red lines around my mouth from my soother, which I actually kept in for a nap for a change! Mommy laughs when she sees this and calls me 'Soothy Face' for the rest of the day. Check out my big sister Cali in the picture, as she's never too far from where I am. She's even started sleeping outside my door when I'm having a nap.

Sitting Pretty

I've been practicing my sitting, and I've made it up to 15 seconds all on my own. When I start to fall forward, I can sometimes stop myself from going, and other times I use my hands to hold myself up. Of course, there are other times when my 'bowling ball head' (what Daddy calls it) takes over and I end up on my face.

This is hard work... I need a rest!

Silly Daddy...

Daddy got creative, again, when he needed a place to set me down for a minute. I'm getting too big for the sink and I think I'll outgrow laundry baskets soon too!

My Newman Side

Word on the street is that the Newman side of my family (especially my Mommy and Grampie) think it's funny to put underwear on their heads. I'm not sure what everyone else thinks, but Mommy and Grampie find themselves entertaining. Mommy decided to bring me in on this little tradition when she was showing Daddy my new bathing suit.
